Texas Education site hosts examples of common assessment pre-tests and post-tests for named objectives. The assessments are limited to a few questions that focus on basic comprehension of objective. Both reading/literary elements and math objectives are available.

This assessment tool would be appropriate for testing transfer students (those with little or no previous testing data) and to identify problem areas with low performing students.
